The administration of Donald Trump has announced new visa restrictions for foreign officials.
The measure seeks to punish those who, according to the U.S., facilitate irregular migration flows.
«Countries must do their part to deter illegal immigration,» said Marco Rubio.
The Secretary of State stated that the restriction will apply to immigration, customs, and airport authorities.
Visa Restrictions Aim to Strengthen Migration Control

The visa ban will also affect port officials and other individuals deemed responsible for facilitating migrant transit in the US.
These restrictions will remain in place until governments implement stricter migration control measures.
Rubio emphasized that this policy is intended to reinforce compliance with international immigration laws.
This decision expands a 2024 policy introduced by the Biden administration.
Under that measure, visas were denied to airlines and transportation companies that facilitated irregular migration.
